MEDIALNA ISTRAŽIVANJA: PROCLAMATION OF EXPERIMENTAL AND NEW MEDIA OTHERNESS (VLADAN RADOVANOVIĆ AND LEONID ŠEJKA)

Abstract

Following an introductory overview about the formation of broad hybrid theoretical discourses in consideration of contemporary art, the paper looks back at the transformation of art history at the first level of its inevitable transformation, which was reflected, above all, in museums and large, representative exhibitions. The exhibition itself becomes the subject of new art historical research, and in this sense, the “Medialna istraživanja” exhibition is analyzed here as a cultural and historical phenomenon in the context of other exhibitions. As part of the consideration of the above-mentioned exhibition, we singled out two prominent, radical positions of the artists Leonid Šejka and Vladan Radovanović. They are mentioned because they show exceptional innovation, not only in terms of broadening the boundaries in their linguistic field, but also in the wider field of art through appropriation, deaestheticization and participation of the art object. In this way, the work of the two artists will anticipate the transformation of the very nature of art and art object not only in the local but also in the wider European framework, that is, its shift from a privileged object to an object of variable material determination.
